He came back with a glass of water in one hand and a small packet in the other.
Gently, he handed her the glass. âHere, drink this,â he said softly.
Naaz nodded faintly and took a few sips. He waited patiently until she finished, then took the glass from her trembling hands and placed it carefully on the side table.
Without a word, he sat down beside her, the silence between them warm and unspoken. Then, extending the packet toward her, he said, âHere⌠this is for you.â
Naaz frowned slightly, confused, her fingers hesitating before taking it.
âYe kya hai?â she asked, her voice still weak and curious.
Sid came back with that teasing smirk that Naaz had grown used to. Handing her the packet, he leaned back casually, arms crossed.
Sid: âPadosi mulk ko udaane ke liye missiles hain.â
Naaz blinked, confused.
Naaz: âJi?â
Sid rolled his eyes dramatically.
Sid: âKya yaar Naaz, tum sachi mein gadhi ho! Gift ka packet diya hai, to zahir si baat hai andr gift hi hoga.â
Naaz narrowed her eyes slightly, trying to hide a faint smile.
Naaz: âHa to wahi pooch rahi hu na, kya hai?â
Sid leaned closer, his tone playful.
Sid: âKyu, tum khud khol kar nahi dekh sakti?â
Naaz: âDekh sakti hu.â
Sid: âTo khud khol kar dekh lo.â
He said it with a teasing grin, his eyes never leaving her face as she slowly began to open the packet, her curiosity fighting her nervousness.
She excitedly tore open the packet, her curiosity bubbling over. The moment she caught a glimpse of what was inside, her eyes lit up like a childâs. A soft white teddy bear peeked out, surrounded by her favorite chocolates.
Her lips curved into a wide smile as she immediately pulled the teddy out and hugged it close. Rubbing her red nose against its tiny black one, she said in her sweetest baby voice,
Naaz: âAwww⌠yeh kinna cute teddu hai!â
Her voice was full of pure joy, innocent and unfiltered. She kept talking to her new âfriend,â making funny little faces, completely lost in her own world, oblivious to everything around her.
Meanwhile, Sidharth just sat there, quietly admiring her. There was something about the way her laughter filled the roomâit melted away every bit of tiredness in him. She looked so peaceful, so alive, and he couldnât help but smile.
After a while, he cleared his throat lightly, trying to get her attention.
Sid: âAhem⌠agar madam ka teddy-date khatam ho gaya ho, to zara mujhe bhi yaad kar lena.â
Sid watched her still cuddling the teddy with that innocent smile and couldnât resist teasing her a little more.
Sid: âBy the way, aap kuch bhool rahi hain.â
Naaz looked up, brows furrowed in confusion.
Naaz: âWhat?â
Sid leaned back with a smirk.
Sid: âWell⌠Thank you :))â
It took her a few seconds to process his words, and then realization hit her. Her eyes widened, and she covered her mouth with both hands.
Naaz: âOhh shit!! Sorry, sorry Sir! Thank you so much! But iski kya zaroorat thi, heheâŚâ
Her cheeks turned slightly pink, and she looked both embarrassed and shyly amused.
Sid chuckled softly at her reaction, shaking his head.
Sid: âRelax, I was just joking.â
But even as he said it, he couldnât hide the warmth in his eyesâhe genuinely liked seeing her smile like that.
Naaz looked at him with those big grateful eyes and said softly,
Naaz: âBut still, Sir⌠iski kya zaroorat thi?â
Sid leaned a little closer, his tone playful yet warm.
Sid: âGifts zaroorat par nahi diye jaate, bas de diye jaate hain jab bhi man ho. Understand, gadhi?â
He said the last word with a grin and lightly smacked her head, making her pout instantly.
Naaz: âSir! Aap mujhe baar baar gadhi kyu bolte ho?â she said, her lips curving into a cute little pout.
Sid chuckled.
Sid: âKyuki tum mujhe baar baar Sir bol kar irritate karti ho⌠aur waise bhi, tum ho gadhi.â
Naaz made an exaggeratedly annoyed face, crossing her arms, but her irritation didnât last long. Her expression softened as she watched him unwrap a chocolate and extend it toward her.
She couldnât help but giggle, taking the chocolate from his hand and eating it like an excited kid. Her happiness was infectious, lighting up the room in ways she didnât even realize.
Then, with a playful smile, she broke a small piece of chocolate and held it near his lips.
Without a word, he leaned in slightly, and she gently placed it in his mouth.
For a moment, time seemed to slowâSid just looked at her, this adorable little munchkin in front of him, her eyes sparkling with innocence. A blissful smile spread across his face as he watched her giggle, the world outside forgotten completely.
As she finished her chocolate, Sidâs eyes lingered on her face for a momentâthen he noticed a small smudge of chocolate at the corner of her lips. A faint smile tugged at his mouth.
Without saying a word, he lifted his hand slowly, his thumb brushing lightly against the corner of her lips. The touch was soft, almost hesitant, but it was enough to send a shiver down Naazâs spine. Her breath hitched as she instinctively closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of his skin against hers.
For a few seconds, neither of them moved. The air between them grew heavy, charged with something unspoken. Sidâs eyes flickered, noticing her reaction, and a teasing smirk curved on his lips. He finally withdrew his hand and murmured softly,
Sid: âDone.â
His voice brought her back to her senses. Realizing what had just happened, Naazâs cheeks turned crimson. She quickly bowed her head, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear to hide her flustered face.
Naaz: âI⌠I think ab mujhe chalna chahiye, kaafi der ho gayi hai.â
Sid tilted his head, still smiling.
Sid: âAbhi itni jaldi? Abhi to college ka hi time hai. Thodi der aur ruk jao, please.â
Naaz looked up, nervous yet trying to sound composed.
Naaz: âBut Sir⌠aise kaise?â
Her voice trembled slightly, not sure whether she was more afraid of leavingâor of staying.
Sid raised an eyebrow and teased lightly,
Sid: âKyu, tum apne friends ke ghar nahi rukti kya?â
Naaz looked down, her fingers fidgeting with the teddy in her lap. She didnât say a wordâher silence spoke more than any answer could. Sid noticed instantly, the shift in her expression, that small shadow that crossed her face.
Understanding that he mightâve touched a sensitive spot, he quickly changed the topic, softening his tone.
Sid: âWaise Naaz, message par to tum itna meri chot ke baare mein pooch rahi thi⌠aur yahan aake ek baar bhi nahi poocha?â
Naazâs eyes widened as realization hit her.
Naaz: âAre haan! Main to bhool hi gayi. Sorry sorry, aapki chot kaisi hai, Sir? Zyada to nahi lagi thi na?â
Sid smirked playfully.
Sid: âBas, tum khud hi dekh lo.â
He pulled his pant leg slightly up and showed her his knee. A visible swelling had formed there.
Naazâs face immediately turned serious, worry flashing in her eyes.
Naaz: âYe to zyada swelling ho gayi hai!â she said softly, leaning closer and gently touching his knee.
The moment her fingers brushed his skin, he hissed in pain,
Sid: âAhh⌠dhire Naaz!â
She instantly pulled her hand back, eyes wide and guilty.
Naaz: âSorry! Mujhe laga dard kam hogaâŚâ
Sid looked at her innocent, worried face and couldnât help but smile through the pain.
Sid smiled softly, noticing the guilt still written on her face.
Sid: âRelax, ab dard nahi hai. Kal se to kaafi better hai ye.â
Naaz nodded, still looking down at his knee with genuine concern.
Naaz: âAchaâŚâ she murmured quietly, her eyes not leaving the bruise.
Sid leaned a little closer, mischief glinting in his eyes.
Sid: âAb meri taangon ko itna mat taado, bechari sharma jayegi.â
Naaz instantly looked up at him, her cheeks turning pink.
Naaz: âNahi, wo to main bas chot dekh rahi thi,â she said shyly, tucking her hair behind her ear again.
Sid grinned wide, unable to resist teasing her further.
Sid: âOye hoye⌠sharma gayi kya?â
Naaz widened her eyes, clearly flustered.
Naaz: âJii??â
Sidharth burst out laughing, his laughter filling the room with warmth. Shaking his head, he leaned forward and said fondly,
Sid: âYouâre such a cutie, Shehnaaz,â
Before she could react, he reached out and gently squeezed her cheeks, making her pout in mock annoyance while he just kept smiling at her adorableness.
Naaz felt her cheeks heat up again at his words, her heart fluttering uncontrollably. She immediately looked away, trying to hide the blush spreading across her face. Standing up quickly, she picked up the teddy and the packet of chocolates.
Naaz: âAb main chalti hoon⌠bahot der ho gayi,â she said softly, avoiding his gaze.
Before Sidharth could even say a word, she turned around and hurried toward the door, her steps quick and flustered. The faint smile on her lips betrayed her attempt to appear composed.
Sid watched her leave, the sound of her footsteps fading down the hallway. A small chuckle escaped his lips as he leaned back in his chair, running a hand through his hair.
Sid: âCute,â he murmured to himself, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouthâbecause no matter how hard she tried to hide it, Shehnaazâs innocence always found a way to reach his heart.

Naaz reached her house with a spring in her step, her heart still fluttering from the afternoon. She hurried straight to her room, carefully locking the door behind her. Only then did she let herself breathe fully, sliding onto her bed with a soft sigh of relief.
She took the teddy out of the packet and set it gently beside her, her fingers brushing against its soft fur. Then, eyes lighting up with excitement, she grabbed a few chocolates and began eating them one by one, savoring each bite like a guilty little treat.
When she finished, she stuffed the remaining chocolates into her bag, quickly hiding the packet in her wardrobe so no one could see. Finally, she picked up the teddy, hugging it close, and began talking to it as if it were an old friend.
Naaz: âHello, teddy⌠wait, me apka naam kya rakhu?â
She rested her finger thoughtfully on her chin, eyes narrowing as she pondered seriously. After a few moments of silent contemplation, her face brightened with a sudden idea.
Naaz: âHaan! Tumhara naam hoga⌠Montu !
She hugged Montu tightly, a giggle escaping her lips as she whispered,
Naaz: âAur ab se tum meri secret buddy ho. Samjhe?â
The teddy, of course, didnât answerâbut to Naaz, it felt like the perfect companion, a little piece of joy and comfort all for her.
Naaz hugged Montu tightly, her face lighting up with excitement and mischief.
Naaz: âYess, Montu! Cute naam hai na? I know, mene rakha hai to cute to hoga hi. Wese Montu, tu bhi bada cute hai yaar!â
She squeezed the teddyâs soft cheeks affectionately, giggling at how adorable it felt in her arms.
Naaz: âWese, tujhe to pata hoga hi ki tu yaha kaise aaya⌠kyunki Sidharth ne mujhe tujhe diya. Sidharth Sir bahot ache hain, bahot sweet hain⌠tujhe bhi ache lage na? Aur unhone mujhe dher sari chocolates bhi di, jisme se main aadhi se zyada to kha gayi!â
She chuckled, shaking her head at herself, then suddenly slapped her forehead playfully.
Naaz: âHaayo Rabba! Sidharth sahi kehte hain⌠main bahot badi gadhi hu! Ab unhone mujhe itna pyaara gift diya hai, mujhe bhi to unhe as a return gift kuch dena chahiye na⌠but kya du? Chocolates aur teddy to nahi de sakti na. Socho, agar wo meri tarah tumse baat kare to⌠he will look so cute and funny! Hahahah!â
Montu sat silently in her arms, but for Naaz, it felt like he was nodding along, sharing in her laughter and plotting her little âreturn giftâ scheme.
Naaz sighed dramatically and hugged Montu close again.
Naaz: âOkay, ab serious note pe sun, Montu yaar help me na please! Tu hi to hai jo meri help kar sakta hai. Soch na, kya du unhe⌠kuch special, kuch alagâŚâ
She scrunched her nose in thought, tapping her chin with her finger. The room was silent except for her murmuring ideas to herself.
Naaz: âChocolate nahi, teddy bhi nahi⌠phir kya du main? HmmâŚâ
Just then, a sudden knock on the door made her jump. Her eyes widened in panic.
Naaz: âOh no!â she whispered, quickly shoving Montu into her cupboard and closing it gently like she was hiding a big secret. Taking a deep breath, she straightened her dupatta, tried to calm her racing heart, and went to open the door.
The person standing outside raised an eyebrow.
Person: âNaaz, darwaza kholne mein itni der kyu laga di yaar? Kya lad rahi thi kisi se?â
Naazâs eyes darted for a second toward the cupboard, then back at them. She gave a nervous little laugh.
Naaz: âN-nothing! Washroom mein thi, isliye der ho gayi.â
The person folded their arms, half-believing her excuse.
Person: âAcha⌠lunch kar liya?â
Naaz quickly shook her head , trying to look casual though her heart was still pounding.
She hoped they wouldnât notice the faint chocolate wrapper peeking out from the corner of her bed.
Naaz shook her head softly.
Naaz: âNoâŚâ she said in a low voice, still lost in her own thoughts about Montu and the little secret she had just hidden.
The person gave her a knowing look and smiled.
Person: âChalo, tai ne tumhara favourite dish banayi hai. Garam garam khate hain.â
Before Naaz could protest, the person tightly grabbed her hand and pulled her along.
Naaz glanced once toward the cupboard where Montu was hidden, a small smile tugging at her lips. Then she let herself be led out of the room, the warmth of home slowly replacing the fluttering thoughts still circling around a certain someoneâSidharth.
