It had been a month since the exams ended, and in that time Sid and Naaz found themselves sinking deeper into the quiet, beautiful chaos of love. Every corner of the college had become a silent witness of their lingering glances, their playful banter, their teasing, their stolen moments.
The more time they spent together, the more impossible it became to stay apart.
If even a few hours passed without seeing each other, a restlessness stirred inside both of them sharp, aching, undeniable.
Then came the two days that shook Sidharth.
Naaz disappeared. No call. No message. No explanation.
And Sidharth unraveled slowly. Every negative thought clawed its way into his mind. Something must have happened. She must be hurt. Or worseâŚ
By nightfall he had finished three full packs of cigarettes, his hands trembling, eyes burning, breath heavy with fear.
On the third day, when Naaz finally walked into the campus, Sidharth didnât think he just acted.
He pulled her into a bone-crushing hug, locking her in his arms as if trying to fuse her heartbeat with his.
Twenty minutes passed before he let her go. Twenty minutes of silent panic, relief, and disbelief.
Once he was sure she was fine, he simply walked away without a word.
Naaz stood frozen, confused.
Later, when she confronted him, he burst.
âDo you have any idea what I went through?â
His voice trembled more from fear than anger.
Naaz said nothing except a quiet, sincere âIâm sorryâŚâ because she knew , this time, she was at fault.
It took an entire day to calm him.
And when she finally told him the truth
that she had viral fever that she had fainted on the road while returning home from college and her phone had been lost in the chaos.
his anger shattered.
Panic returned to his eyes.
Without wasting a second, he grabbed her hand and rushed her to the clinic.
The doctor assured him she was perfectly fine now, and only then did Sidharthâs lungs seem to start working again.
Present Day,
Classes had ended, and SidNaaz sat in the quiet, empty park outside the college.
Their fingers were intertwined, palms warm against each other.
Naazâs eyes kept darting nervously to her phone.
Her result was supposed to be announced today, and fear had wrapped its cold fingers around her heart.
Sidharth squeezed her hand gently.
âNaazâ he murmured, sensing her tension.
But she only swallowed hard, her gaze still fixed on the black screen, waiting, hoping, dreading.
The air between them was soft. Still.
Yet her trembling fingers said everything.
Naazâs fingers trembled as she stared at her phone.
Naaz: âMujhe darr lag raha hai⌠pata nahi result kaisa aayega.â
Sidharth gently squeezed her hand, tilting her face up.
Sid: âDonât worry, meri jaan⌠hamesha ki tarah best hi hoga.â
He leaned forward and placed a soft peck on her forehead.
But it didnât calm her.
Her chest tightened even more.
Naaz: âPar mujhe bahut tension ho rahi haiâŚâ
He chuckled softly and brushed his thumb across her knuckles.
Sid: âItna kyun tension leti hai, darling? Fikar karna band kar⌠aur chal uth. Result lag gaya hoga board par.â
Still tense, Naaz stood up with him.
They walked inside the college her footsteps slow and shaky, his close beside her, eyes always on her.
When they reached near the result board, Sidharthâs phone suddenly rang.
He checked the caller ID and sighed.
Sid: âNaaz, you just wait here⌠Iâm coming, okay? Itâs urgent.â
Naaz only nodded faintly.
Sidharth stepped away to answer the call.
The moment he left, her anxiety soared.
She rubbed her palms together, pacing once, twice.
Her heartbeat was drumming loudly in her ears.
She tried waiting.
Tried listening to Sidharthâs request.
But her nervousness was suffocating.
Finally she took a deep breath and stepped toward the board, unable to hold herself back any longer.
Each step felt heavy. Her legs felt weak.
Standing before the notice board, she exhaled shakily⌠stretched her hand out⌠and traced down the list of names.
And then her eyes stopped. Her breath hitched. Herr lips parted in disbelief.
A second later, tears filled her eyes thick, overwhelming and before she could stop them, she turned and ran.
Ran blindly, heart thudding, tears spilling like she was breaking from inside.
On the other side of the corridor, Sidharth had just ended the call.
He glanced at his screen again, reading something that made a soft smile touch his lips.
Just then, he saw Naaz sprinting toward him.
Her eyes were red.
Her breath uneven.
Tears streaming down her face.
Before he could even react, she crashed into him, hugging him tightly clinging to him like a frightened child.
He immediately wrapped his arms around her and held her close, rubbing her back in slow soothing circles.
Sid: âKya ho gaya, bacha? Itna kyun ro rahi hai? Calm down, baba⌠Itna accha result aaya aur tu aise ho rahi hai?â
But Naaz only sobbed harder, burying her face in his chest.
He smiled softly, still holding her.
Sid: âCongratulations, sweetheart⌠you did it.â
He slowly pulled her back, cupped her wet cheeks between his palms, and looked into her trembling eyes.
Sid:
âMera bacha ne poore college mein top kiya.â
âI am so proud of you, baba.â
He kissed her forehead lovingly.
Still sniffling, still overwhelmed, Naaz could barely look at him.
Sidharth made her sit on the nearby bench, wiped her tears with gentle fingers, and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
Sid: âKya ho gaya, darling? Kaye ko ro rahi hai abhi?â
His voice held nothing but love pure, calming, unshakable.
Naaz wiped her cheeks, still trembling. Her voice came out broken shaky between her hiccups.
Naaz:
âMuj⌠m-mujhe⌠laga⌠tha⌠k-ki⌠iss baar⌠mera⌠r-result⌠b-bahut⌠bahut⌠kharaab⌠aayega⌠kyuki⌠m-main⌠bahut⌠zyada⌠dist⌠distracted thi⌠isliyeâŚâ
Her breath kept catching, tears still slipping as she struggled to speak.
Sidharthâs smile slowly faded. His expression turned serious almost hurt.
Sid: âMeri wajah se?â
The moment he said it, Naazâs eyes widened, and she immediately shook her head fast almost panicked.
Naaz:
âOyee nahi! Pagal ho aap? Aapne toh meri kitni help ki. Warna toh kitne questions mujhe samajh bhi nahi aate the.â
She sniffed loudly. âAapki wajah se nahi socha kuch bhi⌠please ab overthinking karne mat lag jaana hai.â
She whined softly and made the cutest little pout, lower lip jutting out, eyes big and watery.
Sidharthâs seriousness melted instantly.
A soft chuckle escaped him.
He brushed his thumb over her cheek.
Sid: âTu ruk yahan⌠main Mom ko call karke bata doon. Woh bhi tension mein thi.â
Her eyes lit up, the tiniest smile appearing.
Naaz: âHayeee sachii!! Achaa, aap unko call karo. Main Riya aur Sanya ko call karke unka result bhi puchun.â
She pulled out her phone quickly still sniffling but excited now.
Naaz dialed Sanya first.
The moment Sanya picked up, she almost shouted:
Sanya: âCongratulations, topper!â
Naaz blushed hard, lowering her eyes.
Naaz: âThank you⌠tumhara result kaisa raha?â
Sanya: âAchha hai! Jitna chahiye tha mil gaya. Iâm happy.â
Naaz let out a relieved sigh, smiling softly through the last of her tears.
Naaz: âAur Riya?â
Sanya: âUsko farq padta hai?â
She snorted. âUsko bas pass hone se matlab hai jo ki ho gayi. Ab bindass sabse gappe maar rahi hai aur jo ro rahe hain unko kandha de rahi hai.â
She chuckled, and Naaz couldnât help giggling too, wiping the last trace of tears.
Sanya: âTu bata, kahaan hai? Aaj to dikhi hi nahi.â
Naaz: âBahar hoon.â
Sanya: âSir ke saath?â she teased instantly.
Naazâs cheeks heated up.
Naaz: âHmmâŚâ
(blushing, blushing, blushing)
Sanya: âHaan bhai, ab toh hum log dikhte hi nahi⌠ab toh bas Saiyan ji hi dikhte rahenge tumko.â
Naaz: âOye chup kar kutti. Aisa kuch nahi hai.â
She mumbled, flustered. âBas woh⌠stress tha result ko lekar.â
Sanya: âWoh ya tu?â
Naaz: âDono hi.â
Sanya laughed again.
Sanya: âToh abhi sir kahaan hain? Jo tu mujhse baat kar rahi hai, haan?â
Naaz rolled her eyes and scoffed.
Naaz: âKyun? Tere sir se darti hoon kya main, jo unke saamne baat nahi kar sakti?â
Sanya: âMere sir kahan se hue bey? Tere sir hain tu hi sambhaal kar rakh unko.â
She snickered. âAur tu jab unke saath hoti hai tab humein kahan yaad karti hai? Isliye pooch rahi hoon, kahan hain woh?â
Naaz: âCall par baat kar rahe hain.â
Sanya: âHmmm⌠isiliye humari yaad aa gayi apko.â
Naaz: âBakwas mat karo, tum...â
She was about to say more when Sidharthâs voice suddenly came from behind.
He called her name.
Naaz quickly turned around.
Naaz: âKya hua?â
Sidharth slipped his phone into his pocket and said calmly:
Sid: âMom bula rahi hain tujhe. Kaafi time se tu unse mili nahi⌠toh aaj ka lunch hamare saath.â
Naazâs eyes softened instantly.
Naaz: âHmm⌠yaad toh mujhe bhi aa rahi thi unki.â
Sid: âToh chalo.â
Naaz: âHmm, chalte hain.â
Just then she heard a faint âHello? Hellooo?â from her phone only to realize she hadnât disconnected the call.
Naaz sighed.
Naaz: âHaan Sanya, main baad mein baat karti hoon tujhse.â
Sanya: âHaan bhai, saas ka bulawa aaya hai. Jao jao.â
She burst into laughter.
Naaz: âChup kar. Bye.â
She quickly disconnected the call.
Sidharth raised an eyebrow.
Sid: âSanya se baat kar rahi thi?â
Naaz: âJi.â
Sid: âUsko pata hai hamare baare mein?â
Naaz bit her lip nervously and nodded.
Naaz:
âUsko pehle hi doubt ho gaya tha⌠starting se hi. Aur exams se pehle in dono ne directly pooch liya toh maine bata diya.â
She looked up at him anxiously.
âAapko koi problem toh nahiâŚ?â
Sidharth smiled soft, reassuring.
He gently touched her cheek.
Sid: âNahi meri jaan. Tu kyun har choti baat par itna tension leti hai?â
He intertwined his fingers with hers.
âChal ab, jaldi. Mom is waiting.â
With her hand safely in his, they walked out of the campus together, heading toward his home toward warmth, belonging, and a new chapter of closeness.
They reached Sidharthâs house, and Naaz pressed the doorbell with slightly nervous fingers.
Within seconds the door swung open, and Rm stood there with a wide, beaming smile.
The moment her eyes landed on Naaz, she pulled her into a warm, tight hug.
Rm: âCongratulations bacha! I am so, so proud of you.â
She cupped Naazâs face and pressed a soft kiss on her forehead.
Naaz smiled shyly.
Naaz: âThank you so much, aunty.â
The three of them settled down in the living area.
Tea arrived, snacks were placed on the table, and the room filled with soft chatter.
Rm wouldnât stop praising her.
Rm:
âYou worked so hard⌠you deserved this result, beta.
Tumhari dedication, tumhari seriousness sab dekha maine.â
Naazâs cheeks turned pink, and finally she interrupted gently:
Naaz:
âThank you aunty⌠but all credit goes to Sidharth sir. Inhone bahot help ki.â
She looked at him and continued, all honesty spilling out.
âWoh na help na karte toh shayad mere liye bahot difficult hota.â
Rm raised an eyebrow, amused.
Rm: âAchhaaa? Itni help ki?â
Naaz nodded enthusiastically.
Naaz:
âHaan na! Aapko pata hai, main agar aadhi raat ko bhi inko call karti toh woh usi time help kar dete. Chahe poori raat jaagna padta ho meri wajah se.â
She began counting on her fingers.
âLibrary mein padhaya⌠mujhe private tuition classes bhi diye⌠bahot motivate kiya inhone. Iâm really, really thankful to him.â
She said the entire thing in one breath so innocently, so sincerely.
Completely unaware that Sidharth was sitting beside her, wide-eyed, frantically gesturing âstop stop stop please stopâ the entire time.
But it was too late.
Rm smirked slow, knowing, delighted.
She looked at her son who was suddenly very interested in the decorative vase on the table, staring at it like it was the Mona Lisa.
Rm: âWow, Sidharth⌠toh itna teacher hai tu? Mujhe toh pata hi nahi tha.â
âKitna sochta hai tu apne students ke baare mein.â
Sidharthâs ears turned pink.
He gave a tiny, embarrassed smile.
Before she could tease him further, Rm sat up slightly.
Rm: âAchha Sidharth sun, woh.....â
Ding dong.
A sudden doorbell interrupted her mid-sentence.
The bell rang again.
Sidharth stood up.
Sid: âMain dekhta hoon.â
He walked to the door, pulling it open and the next second his face lit up with a wide, surprised smile.
Sid: âWhat a pleasant surprise!â
Before the person could react, Sidharth had already pulled them into a tight hug.
Sid: âChal andar! Mom will be so happy. Come!â
He didnât even give the person a chance to speak just dragged them inside with excitement.
As they stepped into the living room, Rm looked up and her smile widened just as brightly.
Rm: âArre wah! Aaj to ghar hi roshan ho gaya!â
She stood up and hugged the new arrival warmly.
But the moment the visitor pulled back from the hugâŚ
Everyone noticed the silence.
Naaz had turned completely still.
